Hip Pain Treatment in Virginia Beach
Hip pain has a way of getting into everything. Bending down to put on your socks, getting up from the car after a long drive, or pushing through a workout can all become more complicated than they should be. At Body Logic, we treat a lot of active Virginia Beach patients—military, athletes, weekend warriors, and everyone in between—and this discomfort is one of the most common things we see. More importantly, it’s one of the most misunderstood as well.
When Your Pain Could Mean Several Different Things
When patients say their hip hurts, they’re often describing one of several distinct problems. True ball-and-socket joint pain, gluteal muscle tightness and trigger points, and sacroiliac joint dysfunction can all feel like “hip pain”, but they have different causes and respond best to different care.
True joint pain, such as arthritis in older patients, typically presents at the front of the hip, sometimes radiating toward the groin. Gluteal and hip muscle pain tends to show up more in the side and back of the area, often tied to muscle imbalances that have built up over time.
The Patterns That Put You at Risk
Virginia Beach keeps people active, and that’s a good thing. But it also means we see a lot of discomfort that traces back to a familiar set of patterns:
- Weak glutes and tight hip flexors from desk work or prolonged sitting
- A sudden jump in activity, like spring yard work, a new training block, a race prep cycle
- Heavy lifting or repetitive movements are done without adequate hip stability
- Ankle or knee issues that quietly shift how the pelvis and hip compensate
- Age-related joint changes, including hip arthritis
Nothing works in isolation. A problem at the ankle alters how the pelvis moves, which may place extra load on the hip, sometimes on the opposite side of the original injury.
How Hip Pain Actually Feels
Tight, achy, stiff, sore. Some patients feel a deep, dull ache that builds throughout the day. Others notice it most with specific movements like bringing one leg up to get dressed or rising from a long stretch of sitting. The common thread is that it keeps interrupting things you’d rather not be thinking about.
When to Stop Managing It on Your Own
If the pain has been present for more than a few days, keeps returning with the same activities, or is starting to change the way you move and train, it’s worth getting evaluated. Compensation patterns through the pelvis and lower back tend to compound, and the longer they go unaddressed, the more there is to unravel.
A Path from Assessment to Relief
Our evaluation at Body Logic looks at the spine, pelvis, and hip joints together. Joint mobility, trigger points, and orthopedic testing are all part of the workup, along with manual muscle testing to identify imbalances driving the problem. Treatment may include joint manipulation, soft tissue therapy, kinesio taping, laser therapy, massage therapy, and electrical muscle stimulation. Home stretches and targeted strengthening are part of every plan. Most patients feel a meaningful difference within the first couple of visits.
Get Back to Moving Without Thinking About It
When hip pain resolves, patients often say they didn’t realize how much it was affecting them. Whether it’s getting through a full training session, sleeping comfortably, or just moving through your day without something nagging at you, that’s what care at Body Logic is working toward.
